Intro to Peripheral Vision
Hello, my name is Charlie Nash and I’m a journalist and the publisher of Peripheral Vision.
Over the years, I have written about witchcraft, bath water, censorship and free speech, the generational divide, the Russian avant-garde, and Muammar Gaddafi’s ties to existentialism, writing for a variety of outlets including the Spectator, the New Statesman, Mediaite, CounterPunch, the American Conservative, Front Porch Republic, New Dawn Magazine, and Breitbart News.
I decided to launch Peripheral Vision after recently becoming trapped in a cave for ten hours — at one point hanging from a rope over a 60 meter drop in the pitch black. I left that cave a new man, and with the desire to publish a newsletter and other quality content on Substack dot com.
Peripheral Vision will explore the political, cultural, and metaphysical ideas which sit on the outskirts of — or in opposition to — the global vampire state. These ideas will be explored through essays, interviews, news analysis, reviews, archived historical material, and a newsletter which will highlight headlines, essays, quotes, social media posts, books, and visuals of note in a streamlined round-up.
Topics to be covered include: outsider philosophy, populism, geopolitics and multipolarity, folklore, Fortean phenomena, censorship and free speech, and the connections between the ancient and the modern.
Over the next few months, expect to see:
Interviews with two philosophers on geopolitics, terrorism, accelerationism, & more.
Op-eds & essays on a variety of the aforementioned topics.
Reviews of books & movies related to the aforementioned topics.
Pamphlets & archived historical objects.
And more.
The majority of content will be free to read, but paid subscribers can expect:
Exclusive articles and other content.
Access to discussions & comments.
Access to an archive of digital content in the near-future.
And the satisfaction of supporting an independent publication.
